This video presents two views of neural activity. The first view is the classic view in the tradition of Hubel and Wiesel, i.e., neurons have characteristic functional properties that determine also their connectivity. The second view is that neural activity performs computation as a flow (trajectory) from an initial state to a final state - and this trajectory lives in a low-dimensional manifold.
Models in Computational Neuroscience gi ve explanations for both views.
This is second of a series of videos lectures on 'Neural Manifolds and Low-dimensional Dynamics'
