SUPERSTUDIO 2024 - DOMESTICATED FOODSCAPES - EAST LABORATORY - EPFL
Synopsis:
Insects are no longer inhabitants.
From intimate companions to monsters; from pests to potential superfood; our relationship with insects is a complex narrative of perception and marginalization.
Trash emerges as a critical threshold, a marginal space where human and insect territories intersect. Trash Ecologies uncovers how these liminal zones represent potential for radical sites of ecological re-imagination. By recognizing insects as active agents in waste decomposition, we transform them from marginalized subjects to collaborative partners in urban metabolisms.
Challenging our sterilized worldview, recasting hygiene as ecological balance and recognize insects moving from "other" to potential "neighbor."
