In this lecture I introduce conditions on an adjunction between model categories that guarantee the existence of an adjuction between the associated homotopy categories, given by the total left derived functor of the left adjoint and the total right derived functor of the right adjoint.  I provide moreover futher conditions under which this adjunction is actually an equivalence of categories.
