In this lecture I prove a number of important elementary properties of model categories, which I will use in future lectures when defining the notion of homotopy in a model category and proving that it’s an equivalence relation under reasonable conditions. You’ll see that, as a consequence of the duality between fibrations and cofibrations, each property comes in two flavors, which are dual to each other.
